Veritasium: What Everyone Gets Wrong
About AI And Learning – Derek Muller Explains

Derek from Veritasium, presents this excellent talk regarding education.

The last question asked by a young lady was regarding methods of assessment. Part of what she asked was,

“Exams aren’t the best methods of evaluation either
due to the performance anxiety…”

One of the aspects of raising children is to have them develop the ability to perform under pressure and eventually resolve the stress and anxiety regarding performance.

Performance anxiety is something that must be regularly worked on, until it is no longer an issue for children.

Performance anxiety is a direct result of a fear of failure, in whatever way failure is perceived.

Failure should be seen as a part of gaining Understanding. Children being given tasks they will most likely fail, is quite helpful on occasion.

It is important these failures be set up so they have real meaning and emotional impact for children. Just like success has real meaning and emotional impact for children.

Space should also be available for developing the ability to feel and accept the full ramifications of failure. Rather than being emotionally crippled by failure.

Accepting success and failure as two sides of the same coin, is a much more balanced way to approach the development of children.

If One does the best they can
and One still Fails,
well, then One Fails.
