John Mearsheimer’s perspective, that Russia and the West are headed into a long, drawn out standoff, is based on the assumption that the West is operating on a stable foundation.
The West’s political, military, financial, industrial1 and social foundations are all rapidly deteriorating. Despite the rhetoric.
What then, is going to be left to help support Ukraine?
When the collapse of the West eventuates, the political establishment will be too concerned about being lynched, and the majority of the population will be wondering how to feed their families. With little time being devoted to what is going on in Ukraine.
No, there is not going to be a long, drawn out standoff, or even a freeze of the conflict, between Russia and the West. Russia will resolve the conflict on its own terms.
Russia simply needs to stand its ground and the Western political establishment is done.
Western populations, along with the rest of the World, should be thankful for that.
The true absurdity of the situation, is that the Western political establishment is so hellbent on destroying Russia and China, when Russia and China are realistically the only players that could help rebuild the West after the collapse.
So, it makes sense to have a strong Russia and China for this to even be possible.
However, the Western political establishment keep loading rounds into the gun, and shooting themselves in the face.
