This is the perspective that comes about from looking at the world from your own particular myopic ideological lens.
Because the only reason Venezuela struggles economically, is because of Socialism.
The looting and sanctioning of the country for decades prior, has nothing to do with it at all.
“Socialism doesn’t work” is just a stupid mantra regurgitated by libertarian ideologues that are too lazy to do any in-depth research into an issue such as this, but feel compelled spew the line, “Socialism doesn’t work” at any opportunity.
Why did Hugo Chávez gain power in Venezuela?
Could the C.I.A. puppet that was president before him, looting the country for U.S. interests, have something to do with it?
That might be a possible consideration.
Maybe, the poor and working-class people of Venezuela got sick of being shafted. So when presented with the option of Socialism, they went for it. Because what did they have to lose.
When your only experience of a free market, is Crony Capitalism, Socialism sounds pretty good.
Venezuela is a resource rich country. There is no reason that it could not be at least moderately prosperous if left alone, even under Socialism.
This is just more bullshit from people who I thought knew better.
