All models are essentially an analogy. They represent the actual item or subject of that analogy in a form that is intended to define and describe its nature, not to replicate its reality.
They are a simplified conceptual device for describing isolated aspects of reality. They can never represent the 100% True Nature of a situation, because the True Nature of a situation is tied into the complex web of all of Creation and no model can replicate all of Creation.
By isolating an aspect of Creation, many of the interconnections and their influences are missed. But the isolation is necessary, because otherwise the underlying complexity would be too overwhelming to be able to develop a meaningful Understanding from.
As is often the case, some models are more valuable than others and their value is determined by how well they describe and represent the system that is being explored.
The best models will be based on a deep foundational Understanding, upon which further complexity of the system can then be built.
Whereas, models that are built on poor foundations will not be able to support any complexity built on top of them. They will require constant reinforcing and bolstering, which results in them being turned into a contorted mess just to be able to support a simple facade of understanding.
