Belief = Unexplored Ignorance.
Ignorance = Ignoring Truth.
Exploring Ignorance does not mean
looking for ways to justify Belief.
Exploring Ignorance means
genuinely questioning Belief.
“Hope” and “belief” are facades the ego creates when it encounters situations and ideas it cannot cope with nor Understand.
When the search for Wisdom and Truth is discarded, it is replaced with “hope” and “belief”, which are nothing more than cheap conveniences.
“Belief” is easy, there is little to no effort or angst required to manufacture a “belief”. There are no real Conflicts that need be resolved, there is no real turmoil One must navigate.
When One “believes”, One simply pretends that the Conflicts do not exist.
“Belief” itself is a hindrance to the discovery of Truth. One can “believe” 7×7=53 and with that “belief” they convince themself that no further investigation or contemplation is necessary, because “I believe” and that’s good enough.
To Discover and Understand, One must first recognise that One does not Know. But “belief” is nothing more than a pretending to Know.
To Understand and to Know takes great effort, commitment, courage, resilience and even then, there are no guarantees.
So, it is somewhat understandable that so many are content to just “hope” and “believe”.
Often, the Wisest thing One can acknowledge is,
I don’t Know.
“Belief” is the result of a lack of genuine inquiry for Truth.
“Belief” is cheap, “belief” is lazy, “belief” is a coward.
Those who can make you believe absurdities,
Voltaire
can make you commit atrocities.
