Stanislav Krapivnik: Iran Lesson –
Will Russia Retaliate Against Estonia?
To counterpose Stanislav’s perspective that Russia should have hit the Europeans and Americans harder at the initial stages of the Ukrainian conflict.
Russia’s moderate response was beneficial in that it suckered the West to dump all its military hardware into Ukraine and have it destroyed.
If Russia was more heavy handed initially, it may well have scared the West off. But then the West would have retained all its military hardware.
Given the de-industrialisation of the West, it will now be virtually impossible to resupply all that lost military hardware.
Was this the Russian plan all along? Probably not.
But this is how it turned out.
In my estimation, this is a far better long-term outcome.
