The question is often asked, whether the state of the World is due to Incompetence and Stupidity, or Criminal Conspiracy.
Why should these two things be considered mutually exclusive? Both can be true at the same time.
In fact, it requires a certain level of egotistical stupidity to even consider involvement in a Criminal Conspiracy.
The sophistication, resources and organisation of criminal activity may vary from low-level street crime, to global criminal syndicates. But the primary motivations are the same; Material Wealth and Political Power. Of course, Political Power may be limited to within the group One associates with, rather than regional or national politics.
As stated, the motivations for Criminal Conspiracy are primarily Material Wealth and Political Power. However, it should be cautioned that the reverse is not necessarily the case. Material Wealth and Political Power, do not inherently imply Criminal Conspiracy.
Both Material Wealth and Political Power feed into one another. The more Material Wealth One has, the more Political Power they can leverage. The more Political Power One can leverage, the more Material Wealth they can accrue.
There are those that like to delude themselves into thinking that there are no vast Criminal Conspiracies.
Does corruption exist at political and corporate levels? Is corruption not a crime? Is there often more than one person involved in the corruption? Is more than one person being involved in a crime not a Criminal Conspiracy? So, how do Criminal Conspiracies not exist then?
Accepting that Criminal Conspiracies exist, what is to contain Criminal Conspiracies to local or national levels? Would those that are inclined to engage in Criminal Conspiracy at local and national levels and have the means and resources to do so, not engage in Criminal Conspiracy on a global scale?
It is insanely naive to think that every billionaire on the planet just happened to become a billionaire from their own hard work and shrewd business acumen. With their huge contributions to political actors and institutions, simply being gracious contributions to worthy causes, rather than investments requiring a payoff.
Now, considering Incompetence as the argument, how do these obviously incompetent individuals at the political level, continually get promoted and placed into senior political positions, if there is no underlying Criminal Conspiracy involved?
The more these dolts fail the populations they are sworn to serve, the more they get promoted and linger in the political realm. So, did they really fail then?
It makes sense to have easily malleable political lackeys in place, to gate-keep and navigate any regulatory obstacles that may arise, and promote regulations that benefit shadowy, wealthy conspirators.
