If a Despicable Adversary knows there is
an acceptable exist strategy available,

considers themself Exceptional.

we only care about Democracy

get the result they want.
If they do not get the result they want,
we will deny the result,
blame Russia for interfering,
have new elections,

One can be so Pigheaded in pursuing a certain course of action, that a point may be reached where a small victory could be claimed.
However, what must also be assessed, is how much unnecessary damage was done along the way and how many other opportunities were wasted because of sheer intransigence.
When ego wants to save face and/or prove a point, destroying the entire world could be the outcome.
Cutting One’s nose off to spite their face, is a real thing.
In the political realm, it is a case of cutting everyone else’s nose off, so One can save face.

The Individuality of those that consider themselves strongly Nationalistic, is so impaired, that their ego rides the Coat-Tails of Nationalism as a way to feel some semblance of Self-Worth.
Collectivism is highly appealing to the ego. Because it requires no effort from the ego to glorify itself.

This really is just sad desperation.
Nationalism and Religion are all about riding the Coat-Tails of Others.
Strong Individuals have no need or desire, to ride the Coat-Tails of Others.
Cow Shit vs Bullshit 6
Some say that Cow Flatulence and Excrement is a detriment to the environment here on Earth.
However, the Bovine Excrement that is regularly excreted from the mouths of Politicians, Bureaucrats, Corporate Executives and Partisan Political Activists, exceeds that of all Cows on this planet by several factors.
It seems reasonable to conclude then, that this is by far a greater threat to Humanity and the Earth, than defecating Cows.
